Why Cretask opens on Today and not on a board

A board shows you everything. Today shows you the part you can do something about. We picked the second one as the front door, and here is the reasoning.

Boards are for reviewing, not for working

A kanban board is an excellent weekly review artefact and a poor daily one. It shows every column at once, which is exactly what you do not need at nine in the morning. The first screen of a tool sets its default behaviour, and a board's default behaviour is scanning.

What Today actually contains

Everything due today, everything overdue, and the meetings already in your calendar, in one column, in time order. Nothing else. If a task is not answerable today it is not on the screen, which is the point.

Overdue is not a punishment

Most tools mark overdue work in red and leave it there to accumulate guilt. Cretask rolls it forward and asks once whether it still matters. Work that keeps rolling without ever being done is a signal, and the app surfaces it as one rather than as decoration.

The board is still there

Projects still have a board and a table, and they are the right tools for a planning session. They are just not the tool for a Tuesday.
